Below is a list of our most commonly asked questions.  If you have additional questions that aren't answered below, please reach out to us here.

  • When does school start and end each day?

Our school day starts at 8:15.  Students can be dropped off between 8:00 – 8:15.

Our half day students (only available to 3 & 4 year olds) get picked up at 1:00.

Our full day students get picked up at 3:15.  Any student not picked up by 3:30 will go into our after care program, Sprouts.

  • What grades does Roots Montessori offer?

Roots offers education programs for ages 3 – 6th grade. Our goal is to expand to include a Middle School program for 7th and 8th grade as well.

  • What are the requirements for my child to start at Roots?

A child needs to be at least 3 years old by September 1st of the school year they wish to enroll with us.   A student also needs to be independent in their use of the toilet - and able to change their clothes in event of an accident (they happen...and that's ok).

  • How much is tuition?

Our annual tuition for the 21/22 school year is $13,400 for our full day program and $9,600 for our half day program.  We offer financial assistance and flexible tuition, as we don't want cost to be the reason a family does not enroll.  You can learn more about our financial assistance program here

  • Is financial aid available?

Yes, Roots has a foundational commitment to make Montessori education accessible to those who might not otherwise be able to afford it.  You can read more about our financial assistance program here.  You can submit an application for financial assistance here

  • What fees are there in addition to tuition each year?

Roots does it's best to make sure all your child's educational expenses are covered by your annual tuition.  Students are asked to provide a basic list of supplies at the start of each school year; but we do not require students to purchase expensive equipment or participate in mandated fundraising.

The additional fees that a student may incur include: hot lunch orders, after care usage fees, and extended field trip costs for upper students.

  • What is the teacher-student ratio?

Our average teacher student ratio is 1:8, sometimes even lower than that.

  • Does Roots serve students with special needs?

Roots welcomes students with special needs to be fully integrated into our classrooms.  For all prospective students, we look for their ability to work independently, demonstrate grace and courtesy to others and thrive in a Montessori setting.

  • Is before and after school care available?

Roots has an after care program, Sprouts, that operates every day after school until 5:30 pm.  Sprouts is charged at a rate of $10/hour.  Reservations for Sprouts are required.

Roots does not offer before school care; students can be dropped off starting at 8:00 am.

  • Is Roots Montessori accredited?

Roots Montessori is working steadily towards accreditation through the American Montessori Society.  Accreditation is a 3 year process and Roots is well underway.  Presently, Roots is at step 7 in a 10 step process.

  • Is Roots affiliated with a local church or denomination?

Roots is not affiliated with a local church nor a particular denomination.  We are a Christian school but are welcoming of people of all faith backgrounds and beliefs.  While we promote the existence of a loving God, we do not require students to subscribe to a set of beliefs nor participate in spiritual practices that do not hold personal significance to them.
